Munich-based payments processor Wirecard continues to expand its global reach, this time with a new partnership in Turkey.
Wirecard Turkey recently announced that it is enabling payments for Istanbul-based Startsub, operator of the web site Aydanaya.com.
The Aydanaya site specializes in subscription-based e-commerce. Shoppers can subscribe to have basic everyday items such as diapers or personal care items delivered to them monthly. They can also choose subscription boxes that deliver curated items in a particular category – socks or healthy snacks, for example.
“We are delighted to work with Startsub to make their new e-commerce platform Aydanaya.com even more attractive to their users,” Alper Akcan, managing director of Wirecard Turkey, said in a press release.
“Turkey’s B2C e-commerce market is the second largest in Eastern Europe, and is also among the fastest growing. It is known that 90 percent of online payments are made by credit cards, that’s why we are looking forward to expand our collaboration with Startsub in the future,” Akcan continued.
According to Wirecard, it is the only company in Turkey that manages both credit card payments and direct carrier billing – billing to a customer’s mobile phone. The company will provide payments to all businesses registered under Startsub, it said.
