The payments world lost a favorite when Ken Elderts passed away Aug. 6.

When he wasn’t a payments executive for the Western States Acquirers Association, VeriFone, TASQ Technology, Dejavoo Systems, and most recently AnywhereCommerce, Elderts loved fastpitch softball, airplanes and new technology. Elderts was known for his mentorship, warmth, smiles and hugs.

Double Diamond Group president Todd Ablowitz and his wife Heidi were two of the many people Elderts shared laughs and advice with.

“When Heidi and I were new in the industry Ken welcomed us with open arms and showed us the ropes,” Ablowitz says. “One of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and that relationship stayed intact for close to 20 years. He talked about his family and his eight kids all the time and nobody was more fun to be around. We’ll miss him.”

Elderts was a co-founder of the Western States Acquirers Association. He helped grow the WSAA to attract 4,000 attendees to its annual conference in 2015.
Services will be held Sat., Aug. 13, 2016, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. PST at The Movement Church, 1609 Capalina Rd., San Marcos, Calif. Burial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Eternal Hills Mortuary, 1999 El Camino Real Oceanside, Calif.

In keeping with Elderts’s Hawaiian heritage and Aloha spirit, casual attire is encouraged.
